Change in the weather

The weather is getting real cold around here. Not a lot of fall to speak of. Today was snow and violent winds. I flew in from Austin, TX and as we came into MSP airport, we missed our approach just before touching down due to wind sheer and had to pull the plane up and circle around again. Amy made her wonderful goulosh for dinner - always a favorite around here. Last weekend we visited the pumpkin patch. The kids had a good time picking out pumpkings, going through the hay bail maze, jumping around in the hot air trampoline, and feeding the sheep. A few weekends ago we went to the apple orchard to pick apples. It was tough finding good apples because most were damaged by hail. We also went up north to Brainerd for the weekend to visit Grandpa and Grandma. That was a good time. Grandpa Bob has four wheelers that mom, dad, and Allison could ride on. We also sat out by a nice bon fire. Allison has been bringing home a lot of "projects" that daycare has her working on daily. She's getting pretty smart. She knows the Minnesota and Mississippi rivers, she knows the city and state she lives in, and she knows how many stars are on the American flag. Amy tried teaching her the numbers of our address but she's not getting that yet - she is getting the numbers confused with counting and she tries to correct us on the correct order of the counting numbers. What a smarty pants! We've been trying to get family pictures for our Xmas cards, however, for one reason or another we haven't gotten a picture taken that we like yet. Suffice to say, Xmas cards might be a little late this year.

Another trip to the ER

The beginning of a long holiday weekend just isn't the same without a trip to the emergency room on a Friday night. Allison made sure of that. She went head first into the corner of the center island in the kitchen and split her forehead open. She was a brave trooper at the hospital and did not fuss or flinch when getting her 3 stitches. I hope Joshua is not as danger prone as Allison is. I don't know how much more I can take seeing my kids get hurt.

Sprinkler System Installed

We had a sprinkler system installed today by Midwest Sprinkler Systems. Our lawn has had a rough summer with the lack of consistent moisture in our area. Needless to say, our grass has been mostly brown and crunchy. I had been trying to water the lawn as much as I could but with the city of Lakeville's watering restrictions, I could not get enough water to all areas of the lawn. The sprinkler system should cure the problem and then some.

Little Man Update

Little man is doing great!! He weighs 15 pounds 3 3/4 ounces so just about 16 pounds and is in the 55th percentile He is 26 inches long and in the 85th percentile His head is 42.3 CM and he is in the 50th percentile. All in all he is a healthy growing boy!!! He had to have some shots yesterday and didn't like them too much, otherwise he is doing well!! He did get a bit of a fever that we think was caused by the shots.

New Deck Construction Starts Today!

As I type this, the deck builders should be on site pouring the concrete for the deck footings. The maintenance free deck should be complete in just a few days. We are very excited for this to be completed!

Family updates

Amy is enjoying her time away from work with the kids. We just had a new storm door installed on the front of the house and Amy is really loving that, as are the kids and the dogs (so they can look outside). We're deck shopping and with any luck we'll have a deck within a month or two. Also, WE HAVE ANTS! The sugar ants have found their way into our house and crawl around in the dogs food bowls. Duncan is really freaking out and refuses to eat. The exterminator should be over soon to rid of us ants for a year. Allison is finishing up her 2nd year of swim lessons this week. She LOVES swimming! Her latest accomplishments in the pool are going underwater and free directional swimming with a noodle wrapped around her. She loves to kick those legs in the pool. She also likes to jump into the pool from the side. Joshua just got over a week of crabbiness due to a change in water in our house. A short while back, we had a water softener installed converting our entire house from hard water to soft water. Joshua's tummy did not like that change so we changed the kitchen water back to hard water for his bottles. Joshua is much happier now. Kudos to Brian Trabert for giving us a great deal on a water softener and for converting our pipes back so quickly when Joshua became fussy.

Website outage

I took the boche.net website down for a few days while I toyed around with another server that needed all the upload bandwidth. The boche.net website is now back online with bandwidth throttling meaning some sections of the website might load slower. There's only so much internet bandwidth to go around. It's something to keep in mind the next time you forward an internet chain letter.

Joshua Passes Hearing Test

Joshua had failed his initial hearing test the day he left the hospital so we had to schedule a subsequent hearing exam for him. We took him in this morning and he passed with flying colors.

Everyone Is Home From The Hospital

Mom and Joshua were feeling cooped up in their room and asked to be discharged from the hospital as soon as possible. They received their walking papers at 6pm and we were out the door heading for home. Grandma Connie, Grandma Sindy, and Dan visited us at home this evening. Joshua thought he would be funny on the changing table and tinkled into his own face tonight while I was changing him. He's got real good range with that thing of his at just two days old. We're all pretty tired and going to bed.

A Baby Boy Is Born!

Shortly after Amy received her epidural, things began progressing very quickly. 4-5cm of dialating in what seemed like just 30 minutes or less. After just five minutes of pushing, Joshua Ryan Boche was born into the world at 4:58pm. Weight 7lbs. 12.6oz. Length 21.5 inches. Everyone is doing great! Saturday Hospital Update

3:30pm: Amy was experiencing additional pain and received her epidural. 2:00pm: Amy is 3.5cm dialated. We've seen the midwife and the decision was made to not increase the pitocin yet. Amy has moved from the bed to the chair to help things along. Baby Names (in no order) Girl Boy Emily Joshua Abigail Andrew Sarah Ryan Jessica Benjamin Rachel Evan Sara Justin Vanessa Blake Rebecca Eric Katie 1:30pm: Contractions have been picking up in intensity but at times mellow out. The midwife was supposed to meet with us for the first time an hour or two ago but we haven't seen her for a while. They can't increase the pitocin to speed up the process until we see the midwife. Amy had crackers for breakfast and fresh fruit and chicken tenders for lunch. She continues to consume a lot of ice water. 7:00am: Amy didn't sleep much last night. Three hours at best. The contractions tapered off so this morning the nurses put Amy on pitocin. The morphine leaves a nasty taste in her mouth and she has been drinking a lot of ice water. Soon water and food will be off limits.

Friday Hospital Update

10:15pm: Contractions are 2-3 minutes apart. Amy is still feeling good from the morphine and is asleep now. 8:30pm: We arrived at the hospital late in the afternoon today to be induced. It was discovered that labor was beginning naturally so as of now there will be no induction unless the contractions start to space out. Amy is dialated 2 cm and got a shot of morphine at 8:15pm to take the edge off the contractions. We are going to sleep for the night and will hopefully start pushing tomorrow.

Baby Update

Amy met with the doctor today and the decision was made to have her induced on Friday. Baby should be here by Saturday. Will it be a boy this time? Will it be another wonderful girl? Within a matter of hours we will know!

Baby Coming Soon

Allison should be a big sister real soon. Amy has an appointment with the doctor on Thursday. We'll find out more then. I'm thinking baby will arrive by Monday.
