It promises to be interesting. This week alone we're going to see a lot of posturing on cloud standards. Nothing is nailed down but a lot of noise will be made. And don't worry, you're no more behind than anyone else is. We're all stumbling together. And anyone that tells you they're a complete expert is lying. The 20 people I know "get it" because they know they don't "get it" and instead try to work together to make definitions that will help everyone. There are a bunch of people outside of that positioning as cloud experts (I'm looking at you, Simon Crosby) but really don't have a clue and try and show horn people into proprietary solutions.
